=====================================================
In the summer of 1967 when this single was still being pressed,
workers in the RCA pressing plants went on strike:
Cash Box June 17, 1967
So this record was contracted out to these pressing plants:
(This is what is known, there may be others)
Allied Records Pressing Plant
Hollywood, CA
This record has the "H" scratched out with an "A" etched next to it.
Allied used the stampers from the local RCA plant.
Matrix: UZKM-5437--3S / TZkm - 4723--3S
--------------------------------------------------------------
CAPITOL RECORDS PRESSING PLANT
Los Angeles, CA
Also used the stampers from the Hollywood plant,
this has a "C" etched next to the crossed out "H".
Matrix: UZKM-5437--22S / TZkm - 4723--22S
--------------------------------------------------------------
Capitol Records Pressing Plant
Scranton, PA
Has the "I AM" inside the triangle which stands for the
International Association of Machinists' union
whose
members worked at the Scranton plant.
The Beatles and the Monkees pressed at the same plant!
Matrix: UZKM-5437--9S / TZkm - 4723--9S
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Columbia Records Pressing Plant
Terra Haute, IN
The "T II" indicates that this is from the Terra Haute plant and that
2 metal mothers had been made from that one lacquer.
Matrix: UZKM-5437--16S / TZkm - 4723--16S
Thanks to W.B. at the Hoffman Music Forums for this information.
Cash Box July 15, 1967
Even when the rest of RCA was on strike from June to July, 1967
the employees at the Hollywood plant kept working. So that explains why
the Capitol plant (LA) and Allied Records (Hollywood)
were able to use the stampers from the RCA Hollywood plant.
Whereas the contract records produced at the Capitol plant (Scranton, PA)
and the Columbia plant (Terra Haute, IN) had no RCA stamper marks in the dead wax.
